About Peaches and Pickles

We offer Performing Arts and Musical Theatre classes for children of all ages. Our classes run in term-time and during term breaks as a school holiday programme. Additionally our performers provide entertainment for childrens’ parties.

Peaches and Pickles was set up in 2011 by Charlotte Nightingale and Sophia Pedersen. Our team are all both Performers and Teachers in the Performing Arts and we want to share our knowledge and passion with your kids!

From Pre School and up our classes combine the three disciplines of Performance: Dance, Drama and Singing in a fresh and funky class.

We have created fast paced fun classes that combine styles and genres giving an all round knowledge of Performance! From Musical Theatre to Hip Hop, Script work and Improvisation to Stage Combat and Special FX make up, we are sure that your child will have heaps of fun!

Sophia Pedersen

I trained with The Wellington Performing Arts Company gaining a Diploma in Musical Theatre and Performing Arts, this has led me to have many years performing and choreographing various wonderful stage shows.

A huge passion of mine is dance and I have also gained my teaching qualification with NZAMD Tap, Jazz and Ballet Syllabuses. Nothing motivates me more than developing children through Performance and Dance.

With four children of my own the happiest moments are when they are growing through imagination and movement.

Welcome to the World of Peaches and Pickles Performing Arts and thank you for allowing your children to allow us to do what we love.

Growing up in London I fell in love with the theatre from a young age and have been performing ever since!

I am currently in my second year of a BA in Drama, and hold my Grade 8 in Speech and Drama.  I have also trained in musical theatre, and love combing song and dance to enrich a performance.

I have experienced a variety of performance styles including Shakespeare, Musicals, Greek Theatre, improvisation and devised theatre. I am excited and inspired by the performing arts and seeing the joy it brings to so many people, both on and off stage.

I am so excited to be joining the Peaches and Pickles team, as I love working with children - they are always full of surprises!

BA (Hons) Perfoming Arts (Musical Theatre)

I first found my passion for performing at age 5, where I attended my first ballet class and fell in love. From there, I expanded my training into other fields of dance, and eventually found another love for drama and music.

This lead me to being involved in many extra curricular performing arts based activities in high school, including choir, barbershop, Stage Challenge, Shakespeare and many drama productions.

In 2012 I was selected to be a a part of the SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company, where I was given the opportunity to travel to London and perform at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. This was an amazing opportunity to train under professional directors and increase my knowledge and love for Shakespeare.

I have just graduated from NASDA (National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Arts) where I gained my Bachelor of Performing Arts in Musical Theatre. Over my three years at NASDA, I trained in all three musical theatre disciplines (singing, dancing and acting) and also worked closely with the NZ Broadcasting School to gain experience in screen acting and vocal work.

Performing arts is my passion, and I am so excited to pass on my love for performing onto the kids at Peaches and Pickles.

I fell into drama in my last year of high school, when I took the class for the first time, I was so nervous about taking it that I almost chickened out and took Maths Instead! I'm glad I did as I graduated at the top of my year!  Since then, I have had leading roles in multiple theatre productions around Auckland including playing Judas in "Jesus Christ Superstar" and in 2010 I was elated to win the NAPTA for my role as Mickey in Willy Russell’s "Blood Brothers". In 2011, I attended the New Zealand Singing School, learning from some of the best tutors from around the world and sat my Grade 8 Singing Exam for Trinity College London.

I absolutely love working with children, having worked as an educational touring performer in Auckland primary schools. In 2013, I worked at Purple Dragon, London's top family club where I taught Music classes as I am an accomplished guitarist. It was awesome as it was basically just a chance to be a big kid again!

Since returning to Auckland I have been focused on my true love: Film. My brother and I worked for the whole of last year on making our first feature film and we are currently finishing our second screenplay! I am so excited about sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm with the students at P&P and Green Door. And if anyone needs to have an in depth discussion about Jurassic Park, Seinfeld or Golf, then I'm your guy.
